SaltireFoundation undergraduate shines at Marketing Society Star Awards

Iain Wilcox, an alumnus of the SaltireFoundation's undergraduate internship programme, has scooped the Student of the Year award at the Marketing Society Scotland's 2009 Star Awards.

Iain 's winning award entry evaluated and demonstrated sound understanding of a VisitScotland marketing campaign and suggested the best ways to maximise exposure to a broad target audience.

Shortlisted entrants were also challenged at a panel interview in Edinburgh to discuss their entries and wider marketing issues.

Iain, a final year student at Glasgow Caledonian University studying BA (Hons) Marketing with media, said: "It is an honour to be recognised by the Marketing Society in this way and a huge boost as I complete the final year of my degree.

"In 2008, I took part in the SaltireFoundation's undergraduate programme, completing an internship at SPIE in Washington which gave me an unrivalled insight into the marketing processes at an influential, international company. The experiences gained durin g the Saltire Foundation internship helped shape my creative thinking and gave me the confidence to enter this award."

The diverse range of our winners reflects the flair that exists with the industry in Scotland, and celebrates the role marketing plays within business and the community."

The Star Awards, sponsored by Tangible Group and now in their fifth year, are celebrate the most dynamic marketing campaigns in Scotland and this year received a record 191 entries across 27 categories.
