Leaving a legacy to the SaltireFoundation

Making a gift to the SaltireFoundation when you draw up your will is a straightforward process that can be achieved quickly and easily by seeking advice from your solicitor.

If you are a United Kingdom resident, your legacy to the SaltireFoundation will be entirely free from tax and may reduce your inheritance tax bill.

Should you wish to amend your current will, you can instruct your solicitor to do this by means of a codicil (a legally binding document that adds to or alters the terms of a will). Below, we have included our suggested wording for making a gift in your will to the SaltireFoundation.

Suggested wording
The SaltireFoundation gratefully accepts residuary and pecuniary legacies. We would suggest the wording stated below:

Residuary
"I give all (or a % share of) the residue of my estate to the SaltireFoundation (Charity registered in Scotland no.SCO38858) of 120 Bothwell Street, Glasgow, G2 7JL for its general purposes."

Pecuniary
"I give the sum of (amount in figures and words) to the SaltireFoundation (Charity registered in Scotland no.SCO38858) of 120 Bothwell Street, Glasgow, G2 7JL for its general purposes."
