Mark Bamforth is the President and CEO of Gallus BioPharmaceuticals. Mark founded Gallus in 2010 with the vision of establishing the premier contract manufacturer of bulk biologics through the acquisition of the Centocor site in St Louis, MO, with a highly experience team that continues to deliver commercial products to J&J.


Mark draws upon his extensive experience of assembling talented teams to build and operate twelve manufacturing plants with a staff of 3600, as well as his business experience as a Corporate Officer at Genzyme Corporation. Additionally, Mark was responsible for the Pharmaceutical business which manufactured materials for to the pharmaceutical industry.


Prior to joining Genzyme in 1988, Mark was a chemical engineer in the Scottish whisky industry. Mark began his career exploring and producing oil in the hostile waters of the North Sea.


Mark serves on the MassBio Board and is a Founding Trustee of a charity, the Saltire Foundation, which offers young Scottish entrepreneurs the opportunity to experience and learn in high growth companies in the USA and beyond. Mark has a BS in Chemical Engineering from Strathclyde University, Glasgow, and an MBA from Henley Business School.
